Database

Introduction

The offline database is implemented as a metadata database and deployed on the CERN Oracle central service. Such implementation allows to dynamically change the schema, i.e. the structure of the data to be stored, without the need to redeply the database and migrate data from the previous to the updated version. The database is exposed to the users via Frontier, that provides a first layer of caching, and a custom API, based on CORAL, with an additional local cache.

An interface library, NA62DB, is being developed to allow easy access to the back-end database.
